Canada Alaska Holiday 2017 - Day 13 - 31 May 2017

Day 13 on the Celebrity Infinity cruise ship. This was a full cruise day, with a couple of hours in the morning cruising in Yakutat Bay to view the magnificent Hubbard Glacier. This is one of two tidewater glaciers in the world that is not currently in retreat. The calving face is around 100 metres high and 9 kilometres wide, in some shots you can see a large cruise liner dwarfed by the glacier face. There were no large icebergs in the bay on our visit, apparently this glacier doesn't calve many large bergs. The cruise ship is able to carefully navigate the many small bergs easily, and is not bale to get closer than one mile to the glacier. Amazing scenery with snow-capped mmountain ranges lining the bay, and several glaciers feeding the main Hubbard glacier.
