Wednesday 25th April 2018 was Anzac Day, a day where Australia and New Zealand commemorate and remember those who have fallen in war since both countries first went to war in the Anzac landings in Turkey on that day in 1915. I heard that a two-ship flight of F/A-18F Super Hornets from nearby RAAF Base Amberley would overfly the Anzac Day parade in the Brisbane CBD at 11:00am. I decided to go up the hill above our home and see if I could see them heading to the city. While I waited, an Air Canada Boeing 787 Dreamliner flew overhead from Brisbane Airport bound for Vancouver, a trip my wife and I made for a fantastic holiday last May. Then I noticed the two Super Hornets sailing in at a couple of thousand feet, silently heading for the city. They weren't really close to me, but I snapped off a heap of shots and the one in this gallery was the cleanest (heat haze at that distance was an issue).
