On Sunday 19th May 2019 I attended the David Hack Classic fly-in event held at Toowoomba City Aerodrome, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. The event is an annual fund-raising activity for a local Rotary charity organisation, and is supported by the local Aerotec aviation company. Being a fly-in only event and not a full airshow there wasn't much actual flying activity apart from arrivals and departures, with a few aircraft going up a few times on paid adventure flights. Aerotec had four T-28 Trojans and three CA-25 Winjeels on the field, Fighter Pilot Adventure Flights brought their P-51D, SNJ Texan and beautiful Waco YMF-5C biplane and Jetworks Aerobatic Display Team brought a pair SIAI-Marchetti S.211 jet trainers. Around 20 light aircraft flew in, most interesting aircraft were a Fairchild Model 24, a DHC-1 Mk22 Chipmunk and a Globe Swift GC-1B. The weather started out looking like rain but apart from a very light shower before opeing time I stayed dry, with the threatening skies making a great backdrop in many shots. A great day out, I was busy all day trying to capture close shots of taxiing aircraft as they came in and out and came home with 3,000 images to wade through. I'm already looking forward to next year's event, although it seems to occur on the weekend of my wedding anniversary so I'll be walking a tightrope to make it each time.
