20200216-MMPI0063 - Gold Coast Airport
On Sunday 16th February I once again made the 180Km round trip to Gold Coast (Coolangatta) Airport to try for some more good shots to enter in the airports' competition the airport was running to get the chance to shoot from airside. This time the weather was good with nice morning light, far nicer conditions than last week's low cloud and drizzle. This mornings' highlight was another Air AsiaX Airbus A330 in special livery, this time 9M-XXA in the very nice "AirAsia X Turns 9 livery". Other notables were the regular Jetstar Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner arriving from Tokyo, a Jetstar Airbus A321, and an Air New Zealand Airbus A321-271NX in their all black 'Silver Fern' livery. A nice little Diamond DA42 Twin Star twin-engined trainer from a local flight training establishment made several touch and goes and I managed a couple of good smoky touchdowns. The multi-coloured desalination plant building makes an interesting backdrop for RWY14 operations, as does the nice mountain range to the west. A nice morning out, ow to submit five images for the competition and wait to see if I am selected. To get the chance to shoot from airside would be a great bonus, but even if that doesn't work out I had two nice mornings at the airport and came back with some nice shots and a couple of unique liveries I won't see at Brisbane. I will have to return to Gold Coast Airport more times in the future.
