On Saturday 27th June 2020 I travelled 90 minutes west of Brisbane to Watts Bridge Memorial Airport (YWSG) to photograph at a QWVAA flying day. The Queensland Vintage and Warbirds Aircraft Association (QWVAA) scheduled a flying day in lieu of the planned Brisbane Valley Airshow that was planned for that weekend, which unfortunately had to be cancelled due to the COVID19 pandemic lockdown. A good number of members arrived for the day, flying in with a good variety of Yak-52, Yak-50, Yak-18, Tiger Moths, T-34 Mentor, T-28 Trojan, CA-25 Winjeel, Auster J/5F and a replica MK.26 Spitfire. Aircraft came and went throughout the day, with some organised formation flying. The morning dawned cool and foggy, and despite being Winter quickly warmed up with the light becoming pretty harsh for this time of year. This resulted in some harsh contrast on the aircraft using the runway for most of the morning. The late afternoon provided some lovely golden light which at this location lights up the parking area and mountain backdrop beautifully. A nice day out, over 3,000 images captured and many hours spent editing but well worth the effort I think.
