On Saturday 13th November 2021 Caboolture Airfield hosted an open hangar day. I started the day with a spot of bird photographjy at nearby Toorbul before arriving early for the aviation event. I entered through the TAVAS Museum, with museum volunteer Lionel giving me a good tour of their WWI aircraft. We then ventured out to look at the aircraft on display. A beautiful Cessna 195 Businessliner arrived as we got on the tarmac, I manged to capture a few shots with Mt Beerwah as a scenic backdrop. I was very happy to later discover it was one of a trio of these beautiful, sleek machines built in the art deco era. Several warbirds were on display, with the North American SNJ-4 of The Texan Pty Ltd and CAC Wirraway of Warplanes Pty Ltd, a very nice homebuilt copy of a Focke-Wulf FW190, a homebuilt tribute to the original Supermarine Spitfire prototype (N5054), a trio of DHC-1 Chipmunks, a CAC CA-25 Winjeel and a Yak-52. There were a nice array of vintage aircraft at the event, the aforementioned trio of Cessna 195s, a beautiful Ryan ST-A in polished finish, a Globe CG-1B Swift, Piper PA-24 Comanche "Fifi", three Austers, a Piper Tri-Pacer, and a nice American Champion 7EC Champ. A good list of Vans RVs were in attendence, and of course a gaggle of modern Pipers and Cessnas. Another busy day of running around photographing every possible aircraft, most enjoyable apart from getting quite burnt from the hot sun.
