On Friday 9th March 2018 I ventured out to Brisbane Airport precinct for a combined birds/aviation photography outing. As far as birds went, I spent the whole time near the QANTAS maintenance hangars near Pandanus Road. Light wasn't good with light overcast sky and several short showers passing through during my time there. I was treated to a large bunch of White-Breasted Woodswallows perching on the power lines and hunting on the wing. One of them began opening its bill which I got a shot of, but I missed it ejecting a pellet of undigestable insect parts right after the shot I got (I must be ready when I see an insectivore opening its bill in future). A Striped Honeyeater was making its lovely lilting call from across the road, I was able to capture one good shot of it before it took off and taunted me from heavier foliage deeper in the forest. Finally, a Black-Faced Cuckooshrike landed nearby with a big juicy Cicada it had caught and proceeded to toss it up and catch in correct orientation for swallowing - I got shots of this.
