On Sunday 4th November 2018 I went for a short outing to my nearby cemetery in search of the big Channel-billed Cuckoos. Not only did I find the big brutes feeding on fruits in the usual big fig tree, but I looked up to see a lifer starting down at me in the clear - a Barred Cuckoo-shrike! First time I've ever seen one of these good-looking birds, there was a pair of them and they were very calm, not at all worried about me stumbling around trying to capture the moment. A very enjoyable 1.5 hour outing, I do appreciate having the cemetery at the end of my street with its good diversity of bird species and proximity to the birds in some places.
