20190426-MMPI0053 - Redcliffe Aerodrome and Scarborough
On Friday 26th April 2019 I had time for a short birding excursion before catching up with some old friends at Scarborough, Queensland, Australia. Initially I visited the Redcliffe Aerodrome to check out some aircraft and found a pair of Eastern Grey Kangaroos - a mother and joey who gave me their usual alert pose before hopping off after a few photos. Walking the Scarborough foreshore just before sunset was lovely, perfect weather and beautiful view toward the Glasshouse mountains across the bay. I mostly saw Silver Gulls, trying to capture some in flight with only a couple of usable shots of these common birds. Big disappointment of the day was missing shots of a magnificent White-bellied Sea Eagle as I was too slow to react before it moved further away and perch on top of the mast of a sailboat in the bay. Finally couldn't resist a photo of a beached catamaran backlit by the golden sunset. A nice way to end a day off work before going for dinner with friends.
