20190428-MMPI0053 - Greenwood Lakes
My Sunday 28th April 2019 outing was to ZGreenwood Lakes at Forestdale, Queensland, Australia (about 20Km south-west of the Brisbane CBD). A lovely morning weather-wise, unfortunately the birds were a little elusive for me that day. I did spend a long time with one particular Superb Fairy-wren pair that foraged along the shrubs at lake edge. I only captured one good shot of the female but the male came close and was completely unworried by me. They stayed apart as they ranged through the bushes, keeping in constant contact with their beautiful but strong song. Other than this accomodating pair I got shots of a female Red-backed Fairy-wren in the same area, one of the many Fan-tailed Cuckoos that were calling constantly for the two hours I was there and a curous young Rufous Whistler. A beautiful morning to be out and about early, a wonderful pair of Superb Fairy-wrens made my day.
