20200406-MMPI0064 - Toowong Cemetery
Monday 6th April 2020 - Another visit to Toowong Cemetery which is at the end of my street, which is the only place I can visit during the COVID19 (Coronavirus) lockdown. This morning I got close feeding Australasian Figbird (Sphecotheres vieilloti), Scaly-breasted Lorikeet (Trichoglossus chlorolepidotus) and Rainbow Lorikeet (Trichoglossus moluccanus). I found the Figbirds and both species of Lorikets feasting on fruits of an Umbrella tree, also the Scaly-breasted Lorikeets feeding on fruits of a Camphor Laurel tree. As they were really enjoying feasting on the plump, juicy fruits of the Umbrella tree I could get quite close to the Lorikeets with my 500mm lens. Once again the hour I spent birding that morning before work really lifted my spirits, birding really can make a bloke happy and capturing good images just puts the icing on the cake. No sighting these past two outings of my target species, the Brown Goshawk which I know lives within the cemetery - I will keep looking. All of the noisy Channel-billed Cuckoos have migrated back North after breeding season, but I still regularly hear a couple of Eastern Koels up and down my street - they have proven really difficult to capture in my past two years of chasing them around the suburb.
