On Saturday 12th December 2020 I paid another visit to see the Rainbow Bee-eaters (Merops ornatus) at Long Pocket, on the Brisbane River about 7Km from the Brisbane CBD. These beautiful birds have been nesting in the riverbank and on this visit I saw at leat one very cute immature fledgling. Apart from a couple of birds feeding on bees I mainly got perched images this day. No matter, I got some great shots of these amazing little birds and even if I didn't get any shots it is wonderful to just watch them catching insects on the wing, stretching their neck out and fannign their tail as they make their "cricket-like" call or just sit on a branch with their head constantly watching insects fly by.
