On Tuesday 29th December 2020 I took the one hour trip up to Maiala picnic area in D'Aguilar National Park, at Mt Glorious, Queensland, Australia. I was hoping to to finally get photos of the beautiful Topknot Pigeon (Lopholaimus antarcticus) which have eluded me on previous trips. I was successful in this quest, finding males of the species in athe big fruiting fig tree and across the road with one collecting nesting material. Many other interesting birds were around the fig tree this morning, I photographed Wompoo Fruit-dove and Satin Bowerbird but missed out on Regent Bowerbird, Eastern Whipbird, White-headed Pigeon, Brown Cuckoo-Dove, Rose-crowned Fruit-Dove, Australian King-Parrot, Crimson Rosella and Green Catbird. An awesome place to visit if you're in the Brisbane region, especially over summer where it is several degrees cooler than the city (being at over 500 metres elevation) and trees are in fruit. There's so many beautiful and wildly colourful species there, it is worth a look and the dawn chorus is beautiful.
