Sunday 19th September 2021 saw me take a trip to Gatton in Queensland, Australia looking for both birds and aircraft photos. I got some good shots of Little Corella and Galah in flight at the first location. I next went to Redbank Creek at Adare, trying to attract small birds like the Jacky Winter to a set up perch with some water but unfortunately had no takers for a drink or bath. I got one shot of a pair of beautiful Rainbow Bee-eaters on a fence as I was leaving. Last stop was Lake Galletely on the University of Queensland Gatton Campus, the light was a bit harsh by this stage but I went to scope out species and look at spots for in-flight shots. There were hundreds of Plumed Whistling Ducks there, true to their name there was a constant piping sound which doesn't seem right for a duck to be making. I managed a few reasonable in-flight shots of the them, also some swimming on the lake and a nice shot of a bunch of them keeping a keen eye on me while they rested on a rock on the lake. A nice morning out, very peaceful and enjoyable especially with the large number of Plumed Whistling Ducks that always make me smile with their amusing and constant call.
